As we prepare for the celebration of Easter, let us reflect on the fact that Easter is the most important holiday on the Christian calendar. This is not to diminish the importance of Christmas, which celebrates the coming of our Lord into the world, but let us remember the words of the Apostle Paul: "If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith is in vain" (1 Cor 15:14). It is not that the life and death of Jesus are unimportant, but they are not efficacious for us and our salvation apart from the resurrection of Jesus. But praise be to God, "Christ has been raised from the dead" (1 Cor 15:20). Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life, died a sacrificial death on the cross, and rose again on the third day!
At Highland, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus every Sunday—this is why we gather on the first day of every week! Yet, there is something especially significant about Easter Sunday. It is a time we set aside on the Christian calendar to give special attention to the resurrection of Jesus. This Easter, we have many wonderful events planned for both our community and our church. We hope that the Lord will use this Easter to reach our community, strengthen our fellowship, and increase our faith as we celebrate the triumph of Jesus over the grave!
We encourage everyone to invite a friend and join us for our Easter celebration. See our event calendar for a full list of Easter events, including dates and times. We hope to see you soon!
